There's some really cute new stuff over at Totokaelo.

more scarves

I put a few more scarves in the shop here. Christy's been busy while I've been on vacation! More about my vacation later....

time out

I'm officially on vacation--going out of town in the morning. You can still e-mail me, but I probably won't answer for another week and a half.

If you really wanted a Tova shirt last fall and didn't get one, Bird has this great Steven Alan shirt right now that has such a similar look (although it's unique in its own way).

This is me proving that you can mix and match Wiksten pieces from different seasons. I felt compelled to blog the photos where I'm actually looking into the camera, but you can see outtakes here. See what happens when I actually look into the camera? I look either mean (top) or scary (bottom). Oh well, I tried. And got a bunch of bug bites. I think it's the first time I've been outside for more than one minute in a month. Joe's been gone for almost two months! And when he's not here I sort of turn into a hermit. But the good news is that I'm going to visit him this weekend in Portland, Oregon, where he's doing a med school rotation. I'm SO excited. Our six year dating anniversary is on Saturday (First date? art museum), and we're going out for a fancy shmancy dinner.

Originally I had wanted to share all of my sketches on this blog, but then when I looked at them I realized they might be a little too personal. Showing my sketchbook to others is always somewhat embarrassing to me. I don't know why. Maybe for the same reason that reading through my high school and college journals makes me cringe. The poems and sketches seem silly to me now. Sheesh, when did I become a grown up, all unimaginative and critical? I could never write a poem now. I would feel really stupid.

Anyways, this fall collection was the first one where I really had to get sketches together to show other people because I was collaborating with Elly. I made a page for each design and wrote notes (sometimes silly) to Elly to communicate my design and styling ideas. And then we talked on the phone for hours about it. So here's one of those pages, pictured above. As you can see, my designs often turn into something completely different. Sometimes they take on a life of their own. This dress ended up becoming the Hemställe Top.

Here's the Daily Candy feature on Wiksten that ran yesterday. Wow, yesterday was crazy!

sessùn fall collection

I love the new Sessùn fall collection pieces and photos. Oh, the French. I would love to have that plaid shirt in both colors.

ready or not, here it comes

I guess all my hard work finally caught up with me because now I'm sick. I've got one of those sore throat/cough viruses that has left me with no voice. Not the best timing. I took that picture on Friday before I went to a "Naughty Knickers" party for Miss Rachel's upcoming wedding. Now I am wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants and am buried in a mountain of tissues. But all the pieces are finally on display in the online shop! (Although they won't be for sale until Wednesday.) So now you can look at prices and descriptions in case you're interested in buying something. For now the Lena dress and Hemställe Top only come in sizes 2-6. The Orchard House Dress and Top will be available in sizes 2-10, and the Alison Skirt is available in sizes 0-10. Once the pieces sell out, there will be a date listed when they'll become available again. However, the Lena Dress and Hemställe Top are limited edition pieces. I am checking into getting more fabric for those, but it might not work out. Check out the FAQ and Size Chart page here.
