My birthday was in May, but I totally forgot to post about the birthday gifts I got from
Elly and Tova. Tova made me a finger painting entitled "Best Friend Owls"! Um, adorable. Super impressive for a five-year-old. Actually, I'm 28, and I'm pretty sure I couldn't even make a drawing that good. And Elly hand-knitted me a beautiful sweater. It feels so good knowing that people spent time making me things and thought about me while doing it. That is the best kind of gift. Oh, and also jewelry. That last part was just for you Joe, if you're reading this. : )

So sweet gifts from your friends. You are so lucky to have such friends. My school students gave me a present like that on our wedding. A drawing book full of cute paintings. These gifts are invaluable. :)
I totally agree - handmade gifts and jewellery! What more could a girl want? Except maybe shoes....
:)
Opps, silly old computer. I managed to submit that same comment twice. Sorry...

I just posted some sweet little quick and easy little sundresses I made for my 8 year old daughter with instructions on how to do it yourself, and I recently made a maxi dress for myself from a 1974 pattern I found in an antique store.
Regards,
Trudy

Oh my goodness I love that owl painting. I think I would actually buy that in a store. There is something wonderfully refreshing about children's artwork - completely devoid of affect, and pure. Happy belated birthday!
What sweet gifts! And nice spousal nudge. ;)
AWWWW! How sweet!
Hello - I'm new to your site and I really rather like it. As I gather that you are now a New Yorker and interested in Japanese knitting books, you should check out the brilliant, and I mean brilliant, Japanese book shop on 40th (or maybe 41st) and 6th Avenue in Manhattan.
