Darn this neighborhood! Yesterday I was walking to get some cat food, and I happened to pass
Bird on the way. Naturally I was tempted to go in and try on a few things for fun. The green Sari
Gueron dress was adorable! Just very lightweight and easy for summer. And of course I couldn't resist trying on the
Mociun dress I've been wanting for ages. I really felt like I was wearing a work of art when I had it on. I didn't buy anything, but dang I wanted to. Shopping is great for sewing inspiration though, and these days I feel more inclined to make something than buy it.

the sari gueron dress looks beautiful on you! i love the sleeves on it. i wish i had had the patience to try on the mociun dress. it actually looks longer than the ikat version from last season.
both dresses look beautiful. i love the linen lauren moffatt as well. i, too, work dangerously close to some fine retail shops. try to use as much restraint as possible . . .
i love bird. they have a great selection of clothes.
i agree with erica, the green looks so pretty on you! plus i love the cut of it, my kind of dress.
your hair is looking so pretty Jenny!
and darn you for making me want to go try on that Mociun dress now. I too have been wanting it for ages.
dude! props to you for escaping without giving in. love the green one! ;)
Man, I've been swooning over that mociun dress tooooo. tear. That color of green is the best, I want a dress that color.
Ooooh, pretty!
thanks so for sharing....love looking at bird online....would love to see what you end up making :)
you've got some strong will to resist those dresses! that color green is gorgeous.
The green dress is splendid. You look lovely in it!
I have to agree with you and the others.
Love you in the Sari Gueron dress...you look fabulous in it (darrhlinng).
I envy you being so close to Bird. I've been wanting the same Mociun dress but in the full-skirted version.
But.
You could totally make any of these garments. Or a version of them that would be just as fantastic. And although I'm not nearly the seamstress you are I find myself examining garments, analyzing them, thinking...hmm. I may be able to make this.
That replica of the Sunshine & Shadow dress you made...incredible.
I want to make this dress: http://zcommezoe.canalblog.com/archives/2009/07/11/14366524.html
I love all the necklaces from yesterday, but I know you could probably make the 1st two yourself pretty easily!
xxoo
that Mociun dress is divine! love the green one too
I love the green one! God you have SUCH GOOD taste ! It looks like such a cool shop. I want to go.. I want to go..... but it's so far away! ha ha
see, i love that mocium dress. and it looks fetching. but it confuses the heck out of me b/c it sort of goes against everything i know about flattering silhouettes (which, ok, frankly isn't much).
no disrespect, but it's like... a beautiful, magical, sack. it shouldn't look good on anyone, and yet it does!
so then i thought of this (from a recent NY Times Fashion & Style article about Marni):
"To be appreciated by other women, you dress differently (well-made, polished and flattering looks with less overt chicka-wah-wah). But at a certain point, to be considered truly fashion-forward, sex doesn't just take a backseat to style — it gets thrown out of the car entirely."
You look incredible in the green dress. But the pink one... I don't know. Looks like an old lady's headwrap. Distracting & unflattering... the kind of item that just sort of winds (ha) up wearing you. Save your shekels for the green one!
Your blog is so lovely! I just moved away from N.Y.C and miss the shopping very much. Bird was always one of my favorites. They carry such great designers, and have great sales! The green dress is beautiful and very classic. You should think about that one. It is one of those timeless pieces.
I totally love the "sack" dress, I think it makes you look way waif-ish (in a healthy and good way!) and I'm loving the brighter colors on you! It looks so happy. But you've helped me learn to appreciate neutrals more, but color = good too!
Love them both! I wish I lived close to bird (it would be a bit dangerous though! too tempting!). The Mocium dress is gorgeous. I personally like the body of it.
yes, please buy the green one :)
oh brave lady!! Bird!? Both of those dresses look great on you - really impressed with your willpower... but with your skills, I'm sure you can make something just as fab.
Honestly the stuff you make is WAY nicer than the stuff you are trying on! You are a very talented chicken. I say bring back the ellybeth dress, now THAT was a dress to get excited about :D
PS/ I really miss your peter pan collar tutorial... any chance you might bring it back? (a girl can only ask eh?)
Amy
oh that place is dangerouuussssss!!! You look fabulous in both pieces.
Nice shops like this one are hard to resist. The green dress is very pretty n elegant but ofcourse you make even more prettier dresses. Hope to see your collection soon.
You are the only person I've seen on whom the Mociun dress actually looks good. You will have to get one.
you look so beautiful! and i love the green one.
